City Views: A Glimpse of Bristol

It’s no secret that Bristol is filled with iconic landmarks and perfect Instagram-able material (not to mention plenty of hills for the best viewpoints!). We love all of these photo-ready spots, so whether you’re in the heart of the city or a little further away, you can get the full experience of Bristol.

The Clifton Suspension Bridge

Perhaps the most iconic feature of Bristol, The Clifton Suspension Bridge is a well-known tourist attraction. An incredible feat of engineering, the world famous bridge was opened in 1864 and is still in full use today. From the Suspension Bridge, you can catch a glimpse of Clifton and look out towards the South of the City. While you’re visiting, why not pop to the Visitors Centre to find out more about the history of the bridge and grab an iconic Bristol souvenir. As well as the view from the bridge itself, you can also walk up to the surrounding green areas for some fantastic photo opportunities of the Victorian engineering of the structure. Definitely don’t miss a chance to visit Bristol’s most beloved landmark!

Cabot Tower

Named after the explorer John Cabot, Cabot Tower gives you the chance to explore Bristol’s rooftop views. Built in 1897, the 105ft tower is the perfect spot to bring anyone who’s new to the city. Placed on top of Brandon Hill, you almost forget that you’re really stood in the middle of a bustling city as the surrounding park is filled with greenery. If you can manage all the stairs to the top (don’t worry, there are rest points on the way!) then the view is really worth it, especially when the sun’s shining!

Park Street

Whether you’re stood at the bottom of the hill and looking over Bristol Cathedral and up to Wills’ Memorial Building, or stood at the top looking out over the South of the City, Park Street is a hub of Bristol culture and views. With a vibrant shopping scene and plenty of historical tourist attractions, the views on Park Street are some of the best.

Leigh Woods

If you want to venture a little further from the city, Leigh Woods is the perfect destination. Just across the Suspension Bridge is this wonderful woodland which is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, while providing some of the most gorgeous views of Bristol we could think of. In particular, The Clifton Suspension Bridge looks magnificent from this viewpoint across the river. With lots of walks, bike rides and exploring to do in the woods, this is perfect for your next family day trip.

MShed

If you’re more interested in Bristol and its history, MShed is definitely the place for you. A unique museum placed right on the harbourside, MShed tells the story of Bristol and every day Bristolian life. With interactive displays and special exhibitions on all year round, there’s something for everyone. The charm of MShed, however, is definitely the stunning view it gives of the city. From the river up to the hills of Clifton, there are photo opportunities from every angle.

Dundry Hill

Just South of Bristol is arguably the best view of the city. From up here, you can see not only Bristol, but all the way to The Severn Bridge! We love this view and the surrounding areas of natural beauty – make sure you visit to catch a glimpse of the whole city!
