Bristol’s Best Winter Pubs
As twinkling lights festoon city streets and the temperature drops, winter has definitely arrived. However, it’s not termed ‘the season to be jolly’ for nothing, and with lots of Bristol’s pubs launching their Christmas offerings and lighting their fires, there are plenty of options for snuggling down with something warming to drink. Here are some of our favourites.
The Albion, Clifton Village
Nestled away at the edge of Clifton Village, this 17th Century Coach House is perfect for a cosy winter drink. With an open fire and some seriously comfy leather sofas, The Albion is perfect for a mulled wine after a day shopping in Clifton’s independent boutiques. Visit their website for more information.
Racks, Clifton
Nothing says snug quite like an open fire in some underground cellars. Tucked under the Clifton Hotel on St Paul’s Road, Racks Bar and Kitchen is perfect for a cosy drink in one of its many little nooks and alcoves. Racks is also home to Clifton’s best outdoor terrace. The weather outside may be chilly, but not if you’re at the Racks Après-ski lodge. This fully covered pop-up venue has been impressively transformed into an alpine ski lodge, with wooden panelled walls, benches covered in faux fur and decorated accordingly. Take a look at the Racks website for info on their Christmas offers and how to hire the lodge for Christmas drinks.
The Pipe and Slippers, Stokes Croft
Possibly the winner of Bristol’s best pub name for the Winter season, this Stokes Croft staple is perfect for cosying up to the fire and enjoying a drink from their extensive Christmas drinks menu. One of the more traditional pubs on our list, the Pipe and Slippers offers a selection of ales and ciders – some with a seasonal twist. Take a look at their website for more information.
Hyde and Company, Clifton
One of Bristol’s original speakeasy bars, Hyde & Co is hidden in plain sight just off Clifton Triangle.
With a reputation for award-winning creative cocktails, exceptional customer service and a unique atmosphere inspired by the great cocktail bars of New York City, Hyde & Co is a wonderful choice for those looking for something a little bit special. Pop over to their website for a look.
The Rummer, Centre
Snuggle up next to the roaring fire in one of Bristol’s oldest drinking establishments. In the heart of St Nick’s market, The Rummer has a great selection of winter drinks – and some impressive mocktails too. It’s the perfect spot for a pick-me-up when you’re Christmas shopping in town.
